Could AI pose a threat to humanity, and can it be regulated?

What is AI? Could it pose a threat to humanity? Can it be regulated or stopped? The BBC's AI correspondent Marc Cieslak answered viewers questions about the technology.

Cieslak warned the technology being used by a hostile nation "could wreak absolute havoc that could cause enormous problems."

This comes as US President Donald Trump criticised the head of AI company Anthropic, Dario Amodei, after he called for a slowdown in development of the technology.

Tech stocks in Asia, Europe and the US fell after the bosses of two major AI companies backed Amodei's call to closely monitor development "to reduce the risk that something goes seriously wrong".
